Hudson River Woodworks – A Design & Build Company
Hudson River Woodworks is a design and build company of custom furniture and fine cabinetry. Working with Homeowners, Builders/Contractors and Interior Designers we specialize in entertainment centers, built-ins, library rooms, home offices, one-of-a-kind furniture and high-end closets.
Our founder, Rob Levy, is a craftsman whose background in fine furniture making was born from family lineage, formal training and professional experience.
More than 23 years ago, Rob began his career in his father's cabinet making business making entertainment centers, wall units and built-in cabinetry. It's there he first learned the elements of craftsmanship that have been passed down through four generations- making furniture that was not only beautiful, but was also specifically designed to meet the clients' needs.
Rob went on to acquire two degrees in fine furniture making and design. The first degree, an Associate's of Fine Arts, was obtained from Buck's County Community College where he studied under Mark Sfirri, a nationally recognized furniture maker who's known for his innovative techniques in lathe turned objects of art and turned furniture. Rob then studied at University of Massachusetts' North Dartmouth where he perfected his furniture design and building techniques. He studied under nationally recognized woodworkers, Alfonse Mattia, Michael Paschalla and Stephen Whittlesey receiving his Bachelor's of Fine Arts in 1991.
In 1992, Rob returned to Rockland County and began a career that tracked the country's finest woodworking artists and woodworking manufacturers. It is during this time that Rob worked with the Peter Joseph gallery in New York City- considered to date one of the most important contemporary, one-of-a-kind art furniture galleries. He also worked with three high-end kitchen manufacturers designing kitchens for New York's most discriminating clientele. Finally, he capped off this stage in his career marketing, consulting and selling contract furniture to the New York design community and direct to high-end corporate clients.
Now as a seasoned professional, Rob continues to show his one-of-a-kind work in galleries and shows across the country- knowing that building fine furniture is not just a career- it's a passion. He has also perfected his client service skills and knows that the client's experience is just as important as fine piece of furniture.
